Good Luck Cristina's Journey

September 05, 2014

Five two year old winners have already emerged from our 2013 yearling crop, including Cristina’s Journey (Any Given Saturday –Toss the Feather), who makes her next appearance Saturday in Churchill Downs’ $200,000-added Pocahontas S (GII).

Selected from our Keeneland September Book 4 consignment by trainer Dale Romans Trainer, Dale Romansfor only $37,000, Cristina’s Journey trounced seven other Kentucky-breds in her first start at Ellis Park on July 27. The bay filly set the early pace and drew off by 4 ¼ lengths in the 6 f. test for owner GSN Racing LLC and jockey Miguel Mena.

Romans thinks Cristina’s Journey might be his third Pocahontas winner.
“She’s a ratable horse,” he said. “I don’t see her having any trouble going a little further either. Everybody that’s been on her says she’ll do what she wants. If she’s fast and can rate then I’d say she’ll be competitive.”

Other juvenile winners from our  2013 yearlings include: War Alert (War Front-Pastel Gal, $85,000 Kee Sept RNA) who won her second start at Windsor after selling for $478,917 at the Tattersalls Guineas Breeze Up Sale;  Moonlightnavigator (Henrythenavigator-Victorica, $32,000 Kee Sept RNA) who won his second start in July after selling for $385,986 at the Doncaster Bloodstock Breeze Up Sale;  Kid Brock (Summer Bird-Brenda’s Slew, private purchase by Maggi Moss), who won first out and placed 2nd in the Iowa Cradle S.; and Herman’s Wildcat (El Corredor-Wildcat Princess, $9,500 FTK Oct 13) , first out MSW victress  at Delaware for owners John Robb and Herman Braude.
