An Epic Firster October 27, 2025 Thoroughbred Daily News
3rd–Belmont The Big A, $85,000, Msw, 10-26, 2yo, 6 1/2f, 1:16.30, ft, 3 1/4 lengths.
EPIC SUMMER (g, 2, Vekoma--Summer Again {SP, $114,923}, by Empire Maker) was unveiled as a 9-1 shot here. The dark bay showed speed from the bell, but held a tenuous lead up the backstretch. Around the far turn the gelding was joined to the outside by favorite Schoolyardsuperman (Practical Joke) and Dark Assault (Violence) who both appeared to be full of run as the trio entered the lane. Epic Summer was ready for the onslaught and he simply hit the accelerator before the sixteenth marker which forced both his rivals to settle for hitting the board. The 'Insighted' Strong Effort (Practical Joke) was scratched as the field was approaching the gate. The winner is a half-brother to Summer Day (Sky Mesa), MSP, $166,793. Summer Again foaled a filly by Nyquist last year, and was bred to both Goldencents and Newgate for this coming foaling season. Sales History: $77,000 Ylg '24 KEESEP. Lifetime Record: 1-1-0-0, $46,750. Click for the Equibase.com chart or VIDEO, sponsored by FanDuel TV.
